Black and White Flags

Couldn't think where else to post this - does anyone know what the black and white flags on the Liffey were for?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Johnny I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you sure you typed the right words out on your keyboard?
If you're positive you've asked the right question then i'm afraid I haven't got a clue what the answer is.Have you got any easier questions?

Not sure why they are there but i know they have a different country flag on each one. The ones opposite me have the Chinese and some other country i can't think of...

I've seen them - lots of them, they look weird - look like they should be in a black and white movie - kind of like the girl in the red dress scene from Schindler's list... in reverse and with flags.

They're more greyscale than black and white though. No idea why they are there.

They're grayscale versions of different flags countries - I recognised- Cyprus, Germany, France, The UK, (the irony - a union jack flying on the liffey)

There's lots of different countries that look like this

The flags are part of the 'Hours' exhibition of contemporary South American art that is currently on show at the Mus of Modern Art in Kilmainham. Pretty good exhibition really and I think the grey flags along the Liffey are quite effective. Some sort of comment on 'nationalism' or something or other. Anyway I have heard an amazing amount of people comment on the flags, has got allot of people talking anways.
