Only 8ms response time, not gonna be great for games but will do the job for movies and what not :). It doesnt really seem that cheap either.

    http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/77598/art/lg/19-tft-screen-l1930sq-12m.html?itag=3909#

Would rather go for that^^with 12ms response and have 10bob for beers :D.

EDIT: My mistake, this is LCD. What is the difference between TFT and LCD?

What do you mean ONLY!!! 8ms is great.Plus the link to pixmania that one doesnt have speakers built in.

For games i have always been told that anything below about 16 aint gonna cut it  , perhaps i have been misinformed.

If this is the same as the ones they had previously then they are excellent monitors, perfect for gaming and anything else I've tried on it.

If I was to bung a TV card into my PC with this monitor what would the pic look like? Would it be ok?

Whats the diff between LCD & TFT?

Chances are it'd look a lot better than most (if not all) budget LCD TV's since the resolution is a fair wee bit higher.

No difference...TFT is just a type of LCD screen manafacturing process.

That's a nice deal on that monitor....but I really can't use a third one lol

Out of interest whats the Dead pixel rate on the things, got one myself with 2 bright Green sup-pixels stuck on (one center screen 5cm from the bottom), and some blue, is it worth reboxing and getting another? or live with it.

Nope, the picture will have a slight fuzzy (technical term) quality when viewed at full screen. This is due to the software having to fill gaps in the picture. An LCD Tv will have a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, your monitor fullscreen will be 1280x1024.

Okay fair enough, I know the picture will be interpolated but the closer packed pixel density of the monitor as opposed to a standard PAL resolution LCD TV will still create a more solid picture (albeit a bit fuzzier) IMO.

....and the price is the real winner for me....take a look at the price of an equivalent sized TV compared to the monitor....okay so you're paying for the included tuner and audio components, but it's a high mark up and TBH the TV isn't going to make a good monitor (not a PAL resolution one anyways).
If you have a PC and spend a few quid on a TV card I still think that the monitor wins hands down.

Can't see it on the ALDI site for this Thursday?
Anyone got a link to it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

This was first posted on the 15th, so I'd assume they have different specials for next week.

At that price I'd say they pretty much sold out in most stores...especially since they're DVI models...

Aldi - unlike Lidl - take orders on these items, so if you missed out just ask the manager to order one in

Serious  . I ment to get one on Thursday but forgot:mad: . i remembered on Friday and went down to Aldi on the half chance that some where still there. Couldn't find any on the floor so I asked one of the drones who scoffed at me and said they had walked out the door in the first hour. (expected as much to be honest), didn't say anything about ordering me one  , had me 17" sold and everything.

Must pop down tomorrow ask the manager, see what he says...

As far as I know, Aldi do not take orders. All their brochers say limited stock. I doubt that they do.

    ....

    fuzzier is fuzzier.

IMO standard PAL TV looks terrible on a LCD screen. If you want to watch PAL TV you'd be better using a standard CRT TV. LCDs' TFT's are only good for DVD's and HDTV.

Another nail in the coffin of the LCD TV then lol...

I agree it looks a lot worse than the old tube, but flat panel is the in-thing...it's a case of form over function.

    Yeah living-room fashion victims.
Everyday use CRT 1-0 LCD/Plasma UTD.

I'd doubt it. Can you provide some links and examples?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

The E193fp is 308 quid delivered but it has no DVI and no speakers....the high def 19" (which has the same resolution ?!?) is 409...it has DVI and a USB hub but suffers from a longer response time...
    Also those are special prices...

So the answer is yes with worst specs as Wertz said. That said with an LCD/TFT I would always want to see it working as some screens are woeful despite what the specs are. Buying it unseen you are risking getting one with dead pixels.

Did pixels are becoming increasingly rarer nowadays, as the manufacturers are perfecting the manufacturing process for lcd screens as time goes on... Sony PSP's being the exception to that :)
Between my own screen at home (Benq), a couple belonging to friends, and a heap of dell ones in work, I haven't seen a single dead pixel.

..and yet two people in this thread got dead pixels....;)

I have one dead pixel on my LG LCD TV, in the bottom corner though, cant notice it really

Got an Acer 19 inch for a mate from Komplett last week and it came with one dead pixel.Thank god its not that noticable.

I managed to get one of the ALDI 19" monitors - no dead pixels on it!

no dead pixels on mine either

I got one and i have to say i'm very impressed. No dead pixels, great for games and dvds. My only fault is that on a completely black screen its slightly brighter around the edges when viewing it from a distance. For €300 it was a steal!

Well I've contacted Medion about the monitor, they've asked for details so they can contact me about replacing it, Hopefully that will happen soon.

description of the dell ones, when they are std defintion with poor spec.
