Ahhh nothing better then floping a straight, then a straight flush on the turn!

you should really put the words "bad beat" in the subject line so I don't have to read this.

I wouldnt call that a bad beat. He was never ahead in the hand except pre flop.

I wouldn't really call that a bad beat either, just a HH for interest, something you don't see everyday,

I doubt the OP was too bothered, except for the loss of money there's nothing he could do, it certainly wouldn't bother me, I'd just say "ah well, I got unlucky", say nh and move on.....

Although I do take Marq's point, some people don't want to see BB's and so threads should be titled accordingly.....

didnt mean it as a bad beat, i had just decided to move up to 1-2 nl and this was my second hand....

Hector, sometimes i might bet on the turn like this, to maybe represent top pair, and to find out if the guy was worried about the flush, ..as soon as he called, ( in a milisecond), i put him on a kh flush or something.. Then when he raised on the river, i was sure, the fact that he had a str8 flush was just nice for him..

Can you elaborate, why you might bet more etc.

The bet is too small in the relation to the pot, and its suspicous. Basically you are letting him off cheap. You have the nuts (well you dont but ignoring that for now) so you want the pot to be as big as possible by the river, so you can make a big value bet. Betting 8 is worse than checking because he will bet more himself, your bet works as a kind of blocking bet stopping the pot from growing out of control; which would be good if you actually had a 1 pair hand. In fact you have the ace high flush so you WANT the pot to spiral out of control.

If I was the opponent and I had a straight I would flat call the turn and probably fold the river; but if you just checked I would bet 2/3 of the pot on the turn and probably the river.

Lastly you are giving a set odds to stack you.

ill be keeping that in mind for the next time, only thing that would worry me is looseing him with the turn bet
