Just a quick observation about Small stakes nl he. I find one of the most profitable ways to play $.05-$.10 and $.10-$.20 nl tables is to open 3/4 of them and play poker completely differently to 'convential' poker play.

An example would be always going all in pre flop on AA-QQ

hitting top set (or indeed any set) on the flop and going all in.

basically playing only extremely strong hands post flop, and doing so with a simple all in move.

My reasons for this is that your typical player at this level calls a large enough proportion of the time to make this significantly more profitable then putting in for example a pot sized bet.

    eg
a player with for example a flush or straight draw might call on the flop against your top set even if you have bet $20 into a $1 pot. If on the other hand you make a pot sized bet, you give them the chance to lay down on the turn or river. If you can give these kind of players what they percieve as a 'good chance' (straight draw, flush draw) they will call almost anything. Many will also call with with two pair (probably thinking your bluffing) Its certainly not conventional poker but its one of the most profitable plays in Small stakes NL i find.

I do realise the irony of calling a play at such levels 'profitable' However im only a poor student and cant afford to play for much more.

My real question though is does playing like this actually hinder poker developement? Would i be better off maybe playing $10 STT and trying to play good poker. At the moment my poker is costing me nothing (recently reviewed my accounts online and am up about $90 in last 6 months). But i suspect variances (and possibly incerased skill level) at £10 STT might leave me with no poker bankroll.

    any thoghts?

difficult to say chief. if u can make money by pretending to play crazy then fair play to you.
if you have full broadband and lots of time u might want to play a tighter game at higher levels.
sounds like ur doing ok going nuts with the nuts at low levels....
