Do you like power metal?

I'll keep it simple so that (hopefully) no-one can get offended. tsch! :eek:

I don't think there are any obvious ties between Power Metal and Punk and yet all the people I know who are into Punk are also into Power Metal. Is there any Punk people here who listen to Manowar / Rhapsody etc... ? Is it the music or the sheer gonzoid nature of the music that draws people to it?
I personally love the music and also the humour of grown men singing about dragons and "the power and the glory" (!) while swinging swords in a forest. While wearing leather speedos. And looking quite proud for doing it.

FFS, so what if some punks do like power metal. Lets say they all do, woopdy fùck. I'm mainly into punk, but i like all other types of music aswell, the only "genre" i dont like is emo, but we're not getting into that.

I remember asking why the previous threads got locked. I was told it was probably because the topic would start some flaming. I couldn't see why that would happen, I don't see what's wrong with talking about people listening to different genres of music. I wanted to see if I could see what some people from the Punk forum thought about Power Metal because I know a lot of Punks who like that type of music.
I see that regardless of what I say this topic does get a very negative reaction for no reason I can understand. So far I've been called an idiot, a tool and a "bleeding muppet" (well done lads!) . What the hell is wrong with ye? I was only talking about music. What the hell is wrong with that?

Jesus lads, calm down. There's no need to get upset, if you don't want to talk about Power Metal then don't but stop trying to insult me because of it.

The thing is, people who like punk are actually allowed post on the Rock/Metal forum...



...and even if they weren't, they probably would anyway if the wanted to, what with the whole anarchy thing and all
