Celeron or Pentium m

Time to upgrade. Always held the belief that I should stay away from centrino. Up till now (well, last night) I've had a Pentium mobile 1.7Ghz. Looking for a replacement now. Current front runner is a Dell Insprion 1.6 Pentium m with 512MB for €845.

But in my shopping around, I thought I should re-evaluate the Celeron since it's been out a while. Or rather, I thought I'd let board'ers share their experiences. Machine is just used for email, web and music.

Stick to the Pentium m, if you can at all.
The Celeron machines that I have used are just not up it.

Celeron-D (desktop version) and Celeron-M are fairly different beasts. The Celeron-M's are basically Pentium-M's with half the L2 cache and no speed step when running on battery power. The newer Celeron-M's have 1MB L2 cache. Mine has 512Kb L2 cache, runs at 1.4Ghz and performs better than a mate's 2.8Ghz Celeron-D in general purpose apps.
