Howya FayeNatalie,Pighead strongly advises you to go to Galway,Galway City centre is full of excellent pubs and restaurants, and a few nightclubs. You will find the best clubs in Salthill, a posh suburb by the water, just outside Galway. Most locals first go out to a pub in the centre and then continue to Salthill later on.

Ireland is not the place for a formal dress code. Even when going out, people tend to dress rather skimpily.Short skirts and titty tops are strongly advised. If you're flying to dublin its about a 3 hour train ride away.Pighead will gladly meet you at the airport to discuss this matter further. Some may say i should have used a ;) smiley there, but i say,why should i have.I meeant every single word
    Enjoy the party girls

Are we talking about the same Ireland here? The one of no caps, no trainers and no "whatever else a bouncer feels like refusing you for wearing"?

Manchester is still a great spot... been there too many times :D
I wouldnt rule out Dublin - flights are great value and you can still have a cheap enough weekend if you want.
There's always good value hostals and just gets some booze in the duty-free on the way over or in the offy - have that before you head out.
It's done here the whole time... we dont hit the pubs/clubs til around 10 because we're all at home drinking.

Im going to be honest with you, witht the strenght of sterling you are getting a good rate against the euro. I would not go anywhere other than Dublin, as anywhere else in my opinion is very limited. Imagine for example every drink in Dublin worked out 50c more expensive, even if you bought 20 drinks its still only E10 or about £7. Do you know how much more it will cost to get to galway or anywhere else in Ireland? Also depending on which night you go you can get cheap drinks, for example there are clubs in the suburbs and a few in the city centre that do E3 drinks, mostly on weekdays. i got cocktails in club m for E3 a few weeks back when they normally cost E9! Firstly Dublin will have alot more pubs and clubs etc than anywhere else, youll have far more to do and see during your visit too! And lastly even if the price in Dublin is more expensive believe me its not worth even mentioning the difference cause its a pittance! the train or bus fare from Dublin will cost you far more than the saving (id be surprised if you made one) on drink!

Galway, or cork for that matter are usually a good night out... beware of the locals (see thread on lads scoring outside their hometown!) ;)

Limerick city is a pretty busy spot fot partying, but could be expensive, but not as much as Dublin. Id say Leitrim, Galway or Cork maybe

i find Cork to be the best town to go out in in Ireland (best town i have been to in any case)

Galway or Cork wouldnt be any cheaper than Dublin really.... You might save a few euro on drinks overall but the train fare to Galway/Cork would mean you really save nothing...

Cork is damn nice... terrific atmosphere in a lot of places and still pretty good in some of the lesser places to go. Other than that id mention Galway, great place.

Can i throw Sligo into the mix, during the week it is brilliant because there are loads of students around and there are some excellent pubs! The weekends are also good and great craic will defiently be had! Plus the chances of scoring in Sligo are alot higher than in the cities - i would say! and u never know u might even meet a celebrity or 2 in Sligo!

what the hell??? your not gonna get cheaper than dublin, loads of clubs do promos all the time, drinks aren't that expensive in comparsion the country really, the difference isnt nearly comprable to the hassle of getting to Galway or Cork...IMO

it would be cheaper to go somewhere you could fly straight from manchester such as cork or waterford. though clonmel in co. tipperary is not bad or kilkenny city and both are nearby waterford

Yeah, you are. In my time behind the bar, I have heard many a Dubliner tell me how much cheaper it was to drink here, sometimes up to over a euro a pint in the difference.

well i mean as in the promos and 3 euro nites, they are too regular in the country, but every week are here, plenty of advertisment too

Dublin is not anymore expensive than other cities in the country in my experience. In fact accommodation is much cheaper. Check out www.bookassist.com and compare hotel prices in Dublin and other cities and you will always find a cheaper hotel in Dublin.

So as an earlier poster said, if you drink 10 drinks you are only going to save €10/£7.Not much of a saving.

I'd agree with the point that a lot of people making regarding the train fare effectively being the difference between the price of drinks in Dublin or Galway (your only real options assuming you're just coming for the weekend as Cork is a good five hours from Dublin on public transport).

If you're looking to just go out, get drunk and have a wild party, stay in Dublin and go to Temple Bar. You'll find loads of other English people there on stag and hen parties and it can be good craic if that's what you're into.

If you'd prefer to get an idea of what a more typical good night out in Ireland is, head to Galway, it genuinely is the party city of Ireland (just don't tell the stag and hen parties, we don't want them). There's a decent range of nightclubs and about a hundred pubs in the city centre. I'd avoid one thing Pighead suggested though, while Salthill used to be the place to party, the nightclub scene out there pretty much fell apart around three or four years ago so you'd be best to stay in town.

If you're into your rawk, head to Sally Longs (wear black), if you prefer R&B/Pop, head to the Living Room, the Cellar or the Kings Head. Most of the Clubs are similar enough but Cuba's your best bet if you prefer rock/indie and whatever you do, avoid Boo Radleys.
