Not too sure where to post this.

I'm planing on registering a domain and setting up website for new business. Never done this before, so wondering who to go with for hosting. I have checked the now defunct web hosting board and have also searched forums via Google, for user feedback without much success.

The options appear to be, get hosting abroad or at home. Realise there are plus and minus to both, cost versus support etc.

The obvious are http://www.365hosting.ie/, or http://www.letshost.ie/ seem to have a good deal, wondering what experiences boards members have had. Any advice or suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks.....

Registered three .ie domain names with hostireland.com as they are the cheapest. (€49) Once registered with them transferred to hosting at nomonthlyfees.com. Cheap hosting at $70 or $100 a year depending on what package you use.

Support is a bit slow, but i've never really had much problems with it. Mail service is reliable. The sites I got hosted on it are nothing fancy so it does the job. Never come close to reaching my bandwidth monthly limit.

the only Irish webhosting i have ever got was from blacknight . I give em a big thumbs up for service & price. I mostly use 1and1 hosting, they are based in the UK. Check out the Webmaster / Flash Forum on boards for more info about web hosting. Thats pretty much where you will find the solution your looking for.

wow beats, your very lucky this post hasn't been shot down yet!!
I tried asking a similar question and go F&*kin shot down within minutes.

Anyway, I've used Hosting365 for a number of projects. I dont find their support to be very good and there is one guy in the sales dept who isn't with it!

I've one site hosted with blacknight. I found their service to be fast. They were the fastest responding.

I've two sites hosted on nomonthlyfees. I had no trouble with them until recently. They can sometimes be a little slow to respond. What you get with them is ok for your money. Something is wrong with the email service on one of the sites and they say there is nothing wrong with it!

I've heard lunarpages are good, but haven't tried them yet.

Well Computers, while not perfect, is a damn sight more relevant a place to put it than Programming.

I use https://www.b-one.net/ who are very good and get back to any queries fast. They are also the cheapest I have come across and are based in Denmark.

They have options of 500MB €1.25 per month, 1GB €2.60 per month or 2GB €4.90 per month for storage. Unlimited e-mails, unlimited transfer. Plus they register your address as well, varies in price depending on what you want.

I have also managed to setup Mambo Server on it without any hassle at all, if you are interested in doing that.

...I dont find their support to be very good and there is one guy in the sales dept who isn't with it!...

Couldn't have said it better myself! George in Sales is good, ask for him whenever you ring them and it'll normally speed up the "support" process somewhat...

For hosting, why not have a peep at http://www.webhostingtalk.com - this is the website all hosting companies use. You'll get some good deals, advice, recommendations there.

I use http://www.webhost.ie - various plans, Irish based, good value, (In terms of pricing to services offered). Support is first class by e-mail or by phone for more urgent stuff. Never had a problem in 3+ years with them and they also run there own back-up services. Had a DB corrupt on me the other month and they restored to last bckup within 12hrs!
