I need a new monitor and I dont really want to spend much on it at all, I just want a good decent monitor that wouldnt kill the eyes or...basically be a bit crap.

Went for the cheapest option on komplett...Does it do the job?

I'm sure it would be ok. What do you want to use it for? The main dis-advantage I can see is the refresh rate is 25ms, but that really only matters if your going to be gaming.

I will definety be using it for gaming. Just recently built a new pc and its high end and am planning on getting the latest games and games ive missed out. Sick of console gaming now ( apart from pro evo ).

At the mo im using a crt phillips monitor and it is perfect but dont have a clue of the refresh rate or any of its specs...is 25ms that bad compared to 16ms or the lower ones?

yeah a refresh rate of 25ms is pretty terrible. You'll get "ghosting" on your screen during gaming. Say if you turned in game, the image would stretch slightly while the monitor caught up...

So for gaming you'd have to spend quite a bit on a lcd to get good performance, or just stick to CRT....

Well i cant use the crt cuz its for the other computer, my one has none at the mo and i want to get a nice neat lcd. What price should i be looking at more importantly what sort of refresh rate 16ms? again dont want to go mad on the price can you recomend one from the komplett site?

Havn't looked at in detail.(Theres so much to consider....) But the one above has half the response time for the same price?

The screen is probably the most utilised part of a computer and it is what people spend least on...

If you have a new High-end machine, try go for one that has a DVI output..like this one: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=310302&view=detailed

Its a good spec for 300 blips imo, and iiyama are a good brand too.

Pick one or the other I'm afraid.

Buy a secondhand 19" or larger CRT. You can get reasonably new good ones on boards for €50 - €100. When you are rich and famous you can then buy your dream LCD.

Or just skip the whole LCD phase altogether. A CRT will last for many years, gives a great picture and a good one will refresh at up to 100Hz and there will be no flicker. Only disadvantage is it uses a bit more power and is bigger. And not as sexy of course.

Well if it helps if i could go back and buy a monitor id still buy the BenQ, iv never heard of LG to be honest. But as i said the BenQ plays games really well never any hassle.

There's only 2 panel manufacturers in the world anyway.

LG are a big company, been a known brand for longer than Benq.

I'd always go for an LCD monitor with DVI, though the cheapest DVI one there is €299, probably worth it in the long term, as using the DVI connection will give a sharper picture.

I say go for DVI as well, better future proofing IMO, the VGA 15pin connectiors are on the way out I'd say, many of the new high end video cards have dual dvi and no VGA connector. It's only a matter of time before it becomes the norm across all the price ranges.
As for a particular brand i have to pimp for Iiyama here, very pleased with my own 17" Iiyama Prolite E435S that I got back in February. Komplett have the Iiyama Prolite E431S (VGA and DVI with 8ms response)in black, silver or white at the moment for €299. I know it's €50 more than the others mentioned but I think it is worth the extra money for what you are getting.
