The first ever Hurricane has formed in Europe breaking the record
books for the upteemth time this year..

This is truly a spectacular moment in weather history and the real
facts have hit home in what has been the most astonishing 12 hours
    in weather history.
We really do have a real hurricane -as it stands- moving toward the Portugese coast.

I've brought this thread here to display in live terms a truly ground-breaking
    moment..

The Hurricane with sustained windspeeds of 75-80mph is captured here

    http://www.west-cheshire.ac.uk/weather/atlanticeuropezoom.asp

The small and amazing feature will be in the headlines in the morning..

    A truly unbelievable event

    wow.
What sort of level Hurricane is this?
Dont see anything on BBC yet.

Not sure if it's an AH topic though - there's news/media and weather already.

Its being described as a tropical storm, not a hurricane with winds averaging 'only' 80kph. Still, its an interesting sideshoe to the Hurricane Season.

Portugal's a little close to home for my liking. Tropical storm or not its not something witnessed in Europe often. Theres a lot of this kind of news lately, global warming I tells ya!

Didn't we have a storm earlier in the year with winds of 100mph+, also there was that tornado in clonee a while back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,618 ✭✭✭Civilian_Target

    Wasn't a tornado, just a dust-devil...

I thought you didnt believe in global warming weather check, curious that you should go into "red alert" over a storm that isnt going to hit us.

There is alot of merit for being excited over this..

This is a signal of a major change and if things continue
in this path.. who says int 10-20 years we wont have hurricanes
hitting the Iberian penninsula on a regular occasion??

Fascinating stuff and still a Hurricane this morning..

LoL! Best thread ever! I love to see someone get so excited over the weather!! :D Brilliant. But on a serious note...how much longer do we have to live?

that might be the case but the 03Z discussion did state that it was starting to fall apart.
