Munster trail leinster 5 points to 9.

    Ref very inconsistent.

Good to see the so called best fans in Ireland booing Contepomi's kicks....should be ashamed of themselves

    D'oh!!!! :D
tbh, it was a pretty poor game. Leinster huffed and puffed and got nowhere as the ball was slowed at rucks/mauls and munster capatilised on leinster handling errors.

Game was over after Corrigan was harshly sinbinned for defending himself and munster scored two soft tries, the first of which should have been a penalty to leinster after a jumper was taken out at the lineout.

    Anyway, i'll stop now..... :(

I was very surprised that Leinster performed so poorly - especially after seeing them perform well against Ulster the other week. They did well in one or two scrums but were terrible in all other areas. The famed "superior" backs were awful - constant mistakes, poor decisions and disorganised defense.

In what way did you think Munster were cynical? Is contesting rucks with gusto and ripping the ball of the opposition considered unsportsmanlike in your neck of the woods?

Still shouldn't have booed. very sporting.

Christ we had a player sinbinned for retaliation.

Munster spoiled and ruined any leinster chance for quick ball and the ref allowed it. Thought he was poor.

But you are right.... Leinster gave up after the Munster 2nd try. D'arcy was poor and horgan was trying to be flash as opposed to doing the basics. Hickie was slow

Comptepomi was by far the best leinster back (player). But all he could do was huff and puff on his own

    hands in rucks...no penalty

not rolling away in tackle....no penalty

    coming in wrong side....no penalty

    collapsing mauls....no penalty

EDIT: but then again...i suppose it's just playing the ref. if he ain't gonna call it you should keep doing it.

    i agree....unfortunately

thought there was something odd about comptempomi's reaction to something there alright. he seemed really pissed off about something and had a right go at ROG too.

Dave you're completely right about Warner at 10, his continued presence instead of the excellent Contepomi is a total mystery.

:D I'm assuming you're suggesting that all such incorrect decisions went to the benefit of Munster? Take off the eyepatch man - the ref was patchy enough but hardly biased.

How would you compare their performances against Ulster and against Munster?

i didnt see the munster match but from what i heard they were lucky in the 1st half because they had the wind behind them but that they took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half and let munster in. conceding 4 trys in a match and not scoring in the 2nd half isnt exactly good playing... and in the ulster match for one of ulsters tries, ulster had a 3 man overlap, not great defence from leinster!

    lol

I make no bones about my one eye'ed ness (that's not even a word) :p

I'm not saying he was biased but just didn't ref the breakdowns well at all. I'm just bitter that the munster backrow weren't blown of the park and that Leinster's backrow weren't glic enough to try and do the same when the ref obviously wasn't penalising the opposition.

Seemingly, Quinlan did something to comptepomi's face, off the ball, and that's why he was so animated even after the play was brought back and the penalty was awarded to him.

"Then the ref awarded a penalty from the wrong position. Then Contempomi took all day to take the penalty in violation of the rules. Then the ball fell off the tee and took all day again to take the kick. The ref and Contempomi were breaking the rules continually and rightly got booed. Normality returned when justice was done when Contempomi missed the penalty"

The ball fell off the tee for féck sake, hardly time wasting is it? Then he had to wait until the ref would shutup telling him he had 40 seconds to take the kick, and since when is booing ever justified??

    It was a poor game.

A decent performance by munster, but hardly anything special, they're capable of a lot more.

I wouldnt get too carried away about 5 trys from a Munster point of view, Glasgow or the Borders could have put 4 or 5 past a Leinster team playing that poor today. It's the worst I've ever seen them play anyway.

Refs decisions all fell Munsters way, critically, the inconsistancy was shown in the sin binning of Reggi, which killed off what was left of Leinster (not much).

The boo'ing was uncalled for, and I dont think one Leinster player acting like a soccer player(although I dont think he was doing anything disgracefull enough to be boo worthy) gives the entire munster crowd an excuse to act like a soccer crowd.

All in all, fair play Munster, a well deserved victory over a very soft, unorganised, unprepared Leinster team. I will expect plenty more where that came from from both sides this season. Leinster are in crisis, and it seems the bubble has busrt on a good generation of Irish Rugby. I cant see an Irish side compete for the 6N or HC for a good while yet. :o

Agreed Daveirl - no question Reggie deserved to go; the ref was only a few yards away and saw him dropping a knee onto Freds back and then threw a few pucks too?

The booing for Comtempomi's penalty was a disgrace. It's quite hard to judge something on telly because the positioning of the mics can give a distorted impression of a crowd's response but it actually sounded like the whole crowd booed which is unprecedented.

Ruggie i respect you as a rugger but the Ref f00ked us on every call in the first half except for the reggie call which he could have gone the other way for retaliation but com'on we hockeyed you off the pitch.

Munster were better all round! End of story:D

ah crap....had a big long reply but bloody firefox crashed on me.
    but to summarise:
    i'll have to disagree!! :D

agreed Nukem, that ref gave Leinster pretty much every decision in the first half. Leinster as people were saying were simply appalling. You know you're ****ed when O Gara runs in a try looking like a speedster!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,252 ✭✭✭Funkstard

Reggie was just trying to get Freddy off him, the scrum was well over but Freddy kept his vice-grip on Reggie, and then started driving him up and away. Fair enough reggie gave him a few whacks, but Freddy was guilty too.

And I cannot believe someone said they thought the booing was justified. Booing is one of the most disgraceful things fans can do, and it is never ever justified

He p!ssed through Warner as well?????? Dunno but i think Munster just had there back up heading into the second half,O'Leary looked outstanding; took every ball like it was his last. What interested me was the forwards for Munster, they were in the backline the whole time! Horans try is the best example,my god an Irish prop on the wing running:eek:
Have to say was really inpressed with Gleeson and Heaslip, looks like EOS will have major headaches,re:Wilson,Wallace,Gleeson,Miler,Foley....etc.... - may the good times role.

    Nukem

    EDIT:Ruggie disagree away - we won \0/

I was very impressed by o'leary. where da **** did he come from? Hopefully he'll put enough pressure on stringer to get his finger out.

I think heaslip is a real gem. he's only 22 or so and an absolute creature. Needs a little bit more pace and he'd walk into the irish team

Heard a lot about him in the last few months and saw him play once, but has bulked a bit since. He isnt afraid of getting hit, damn he bounced off a few tackles and just smiled. Stringer is in major trouble big time!

    looked a decent player alright.

wrt wilson, i think he is too lightweight. he has all the skills but he just doesn't make a big enough impact imo

I was at the match yesterday and have that the booing is being taken totally out of context. The crowd were silent for all the kicks except for one. I think the booing was the result of the ref just infuriating the munster fans after a string of dodgy calls. They were booing the decision rather than the kicker. Reggie didn't help matters much either by blowing a kiss at the crowd when he reached the touch line after the sin binning.
Surely Eddie will have to make some serious changes to the Irish side after that performance. I'd say you could count the amount of times Leinster had possession in the munster twenty two on one hand.
