What do you ntend on using it for?
If its just college stuff, office, web srufing etc then its perfect and seems like a good deal.

Bit rubbish for the money tbh.
Spec. is weak for the money as processor is the old model with only 400mhz FSB.

I dont know why everyone is being so negative on here. That laptop will easily handle pretty demanding tasks it has a decent processor - not the newest/best but still a good performer ( probably somewhere round abouts a 2.6Hhz P4)

Fantastic screen (similar to sony's X-black by all accounts)t. Small light package 2kg-ish. All the trimmings. And great reviews.

Plus it can play DVD's and movies from the hard disk without booting into windows.

Im seriously thinking about trading my Dell x1 in for one.

Did you look at the Lidl offering? Got a good review in PC Live recently but I don't know what its like personally. http://www.lidl.ie/ie/index.nsf/pages/c.o.oow.20051013.p.Laptop

that aint a good deal at all tbh. Look at the comments in the bargain alerts forum. Processors not great (too power hungry for the speed) I've also heard that lidl (or poss aldi) up north are getting a similar spec one but with a Turion (proper mobile processor) for cheaper...thats just a rumour though..

Oh and Alienware use the same basic chassis as MV - so thats another plus point.

Hmm.. all I'd really want from a laptop is office stuff, movies, browsing and portability - The mv seems perfect. Friend of mine tells me the graphics capabilities are genuinely pathetic, I wont really be playin games on it tho. Looked at the cheap lidl/aldi deals but they're pretty big n heavy and prob havent got great battery life. Looks like its mv for me, unless anyone knows of a similarly priced laptop of the same size/weight???

PC world/Dixons do an own brand called Advent - Relatively cheap too and same sort of size and weight and spec.

Shop around though - coz I remember seeing 50-100 differences between different shops (Dixons blanch vs Dixons Jervis vs PC world Airside swords) or deals where the next model up was the same price.

this is a 12.1" laptop for the money the spec seems good i have a similar spec dell latitude x300 and only has a 1.4Mhz processor 640Mb RAM which is surprisingly good and i dont feel a huge in performance when i come off my 3.2Ghz 1GB RAM desktop

I've played MOHAA Spearhead on it in the past and it copes quite well on max res etc. But i find the screen to small for games.

Man you sure can turn that into a fine machinr for and extra 175£ 2.0Ghz and 1Gb ram and sure why not a 120Gb HD @ 140£
