come on the Maple Leafs!

just spent the summer in toronto and you wouldn't believe how fanatical the new hockey season. especially after the players strike etc.

yeah sweden are 2nd best second best in world rankings (behind canada). usa are 6th (hehe) behind a lump of european teams.
out of interest ireland are 44th. 'not bad' i heard you say, but there's only 45 teams in the world!

Favourite team = les Habitants de Montreal.
My girlfriend has gotten me hooked on the Canadiens. They've had a pretty decent start to the season, although the fact that they've lost both of their home games (albeit to the scarily impressive Ottawa Senators and the resurgent Maple Leafs) if a bit of a black spot on their season so far.

The Senators could go all the way (although it's early in the season yet), but I can't see Calgary Flames reaching the Stanley Cup Final again.

PS: For anyone who didn't know, Wayne Gretsky is managing the Pheonix Coyotes.

Frisbee is definitely played by more people in Ireland than ice hockey
