    Hi fellas,

Do anyone know if this Tv USb box would allow me to get Sky on my PC, When i mean sky, i mean to transfer what i watch from my Digibox to my PC, ie. Watch the same channel in the living room and PC room. I'd like to be able to use the PC to record what's on Tv similar to Sky+ and then burn what i record to Blank DVD. Ideally what i want from it is to be able to record the likes of MTV and then convert the files to MP3 to listen to them. Is it possible to convert other files to MP3? I know about the Skystar cards but i don't want to add another PCi card as i have the Skydsl Broadband & Satellite tv card already. (i won't accept normal tv feeds as I've tried it only sat feeds)
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi if you just want to record music from mtv and stuff just get a cable from the line out on the digibox to the line in on your pc and record away. i have done this with my minidisc player and it would be the very same on the pc. I use cakewalk for stuff like that but there is a free program i use up and down called Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and its very easy to use. Just make sure when you are recording that the recording level is down.

    Yes, thats what its for.
It can't decode one channel while your watching another but you can connect via a SCART adaptor to your digibox, and record when you want.

Is their a line in on every pc, or is this what i should do with the hauppauge win tv usb box? I can run a tv cable from the rf out at the back of the digibox. is there a way to do this without hauppauge win tv usb box or any other piece of hardware? Anyway thanks for the advice guys.

Just about any PC with a soundcard (even onboard sound) should have one, this'd be a much better way of doing it than with the hauppauge box which'll record video aswell which isn't really what you want (altough it can probably be setup to do just audio, why buy something if it's going to be more hassle than something you already have)

Here is the kind of setup you need http://www.aaevp.com/techniques/technique_evp11.htm
If your sound card has not got a line in (which I doubt it) you can buy one here for €12 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=117638&cks=SPK
Its full duplex which basically means you can record and hear at the same time, thats really if your recording singing or guitar.
Use the program Audacity its very easy just look at the top menu and you will see microphone with a drop down menu just select line in and record. If you were singing select microphone, but your mic would have to plugged into the mic jack on the sound card not the line in.

It will be the same setup recording from a digibox

Thanks for all the info fellas, Just one more question, would this cable be suitable for connecting the Digibox to the line in port in the PC. I can bring the Digibox right along side the PC for the recording using a satellite extension cable I have. I have downloaded the Audicty software (a nice piece it is too thanks for recommending it)

    Any help is appreciated :)
