Can anyone help here. What ping shouls i get with a 2 Mbps download & 512 Kbps download? Is there another way to measure actual speed that makes more sense? Thanks.

Post more pings, a tracert and details of what service you are with and where (geographically)!

Service from Ice Communications (wirless bb provider), location Celbridge Co Kildare. Don't know what a tracert is.

pings are used to test latency(the time it takes for you to recieve a responce after sending a packet to a server)
pings from a 512k or 2mbit connection should be the same , if the same isp is used

bandwidth (how many bits can be transfered per second) is the difference between connection speeds

you can use this site to test bandwidth

do pings have any effect on streaming real audio or other stuff like that? my connection speed seems to be fine but if im listening to something and try to do anything else on the net (like surf it) then the audio cuts out very annoyingly. might it be pings?
