Scart control not working

For some reason, scart control on my Philips TV no longer works. Up until last week, when I pressed the 'sky' button on the sky remote, it would automaticallt change to AV1 and when DVD player was switched on from standby, it would automatically change to AV2.

Now, however, neither will automatically change. I haven't been at the cables, and I also notice that the blue Sky display is a different shade of blue than it used to be (nothing to do with the official EPG background change). I've since checked, and all the cables are sound.

    Any ideas?

sounds like the scart lead is loose at one end.

Pin 8 is used to automatically switch the device so this is probably loose, that would explain your blue picture problems too. I suggest that you check the scart connections are all snug and inserted level.

Try also checking the setings in Services | Setup | Picture

Maybe also Composite / RGB setting.

Or the hamsters inside the TV are on strike for more sunflower seeds.

Also, the different shade of blue on Sky is possibly because you got the recent software update. And also, it's possible that the update reset your Scart Control to Off (though this didn't happen my box).

i am having a similar problem. I used to turn the Sky box to standby and turn on the dvd player. But DVD players is now coming up with a orange tint instead of the normal blue. To get it to work i had to plug out the Sky Box scart and plug the DVD into the tv.

TV into SKY BOX Scart Port TV
DVD into SKY BOX Scart Port Video

Check all the cables and the seem fine. It seems to a update that caused this. Tried all the settings on the sky box as well.

The DVD can do RGB as can the SKy box. Much superior images without patterning on fine colour, or colour flicker on fine detail.

The Sky box only passes Composite from VCR SCART as no normal VHS does RGB.

So if you have only one SCART (or only one with RGB, common even on TVs with 3 SCARTs!) an RGB SCART switch box is needed on TV.

Hills Electronics do a all pins wired & Switched 4-way box, but you need a Reverse SCART cable (Actually striaght through as all standard SCART cables are reverse wired on Composite Video & Audio as "cross overs"), to connect from box to TV.

This is only £5 and switches ALL pins. Most "high street" & "Argos" etc scart 2, 3 &4-way boxes switches have the following faults.
    1) SCART control pin not switched, or even tied together on all sockets, so no 16:9 / 4:3 autoswitching.
    2) RGB (blanking) pin to tell TV to use RGB not just Composite, either not switched, not connected, on a single switch or all tied together on all sockets. RGB/Composite switching either does not work or not automatic between sources.
    3) Only one socket has RGB, or all the sockets simply wired together rather than switched.

It's a metal box with a 4 way knob on front and 5 scart sockets at back. ALL pins except ground are switched. I reversed the two composite Video in/out and the 4 audio (Stereo In and Out) wires inside my box so as to use a common SCAT cable to TV rather than a "Striaght Through" SCART.

Similar boxes are available for VGA and 25W D connectors.
