when viewing streaming content on the web, which embeded media player is your favourite?

i know there's lots of media players, i've found the vlc player quite handy.

just want to know which embeded players you choose, when given the choice.

when viewing streaming content on the web, which media player is your favourite? 37 votes

    I prefer Quicktime.
The reasons are that quicktime seems to buffer itself quicker and it actually works in Firefox (unlike WMP). The seek bar can also do the job quicker from my own experience.

I'm not a huge fan of Quicktime because I can't scale the video or run it fullscreen (at least not in any of the free versions I've used).
RealMedia is alright if you're using Media Player Classic, I wouldn't touch the official Real client with a bargepole.
Windows Media Player 9/10 does the job nicely for embedded videos, I'm happy enough with it as an in-browser player... but the full interface is a bit clunky and awkward.

People shouldn't underestimate the importance of being able to scale the video clip being streamed... for high-res users, some streaming videos can be insanely small.

Windows Media Player, I hate Real Player because it spends the whole time buffering, I like Quicktime also tho

    video lan classic or wmp

I absolutely positively hate realplayer and have done since they came out with that garbage. Quicktime's free player doesn't go full screen which is irritating as well.

after hours would be where most people congrigrate.

    not realy a technical question.

Never found one that would work properly (or that I could configure to work properly). I use MPlayer which works okayish for a lot of content, but Real just refuses to work.

WinAmp for audio, but my machine's been acting up lately with video, verfy jerky on WinAmp, but Media Player works perfectly with it. Very strange.

I've worked in streaming media for years and they all have their advantages.

As far as being a user is concerned I like flash streaming these days because there's less messing with plugins, and the interface can be customised easier.
