Vote Chris Bond for First arts Group D(Archaeology, Politics and English)

    About the Candidate
Chris Bond is a 20 year old politics student from Tallaght in Dublin, being a 1st year repeat student this is his second year in UCD, last year he was heavily involved in the SU as a class rep and played a huge role in the Democracy Now campaign which pressurised the college authorities to grant the students of UCD a greater role in the decision making process. He is involved in the Global Action and retro societies. Chris is also member of the Centre Club Bar committee.

    Education Issues
Chris wants our union to campaign against the possible re-introduction of fees, and the cutbacks which have affected UCD, a priority of UCDSU should be to lobby for a properly funded education system.
·The union should also take action for the registration fee to be abolished and replaced with government funding.
    · Chris is opposed to the privatisation of education , in the U.S. it has led to the restriction of Academic freedom and has diverted emphasis and funding away from the Arts subjects.

End the rip off on Campus
The price of food and beverages in UCD is exorbitant when compared to that of Trinity and DCU, Chris wants the union to be active in ending the rip off in food outlets on campus and to provide its own alternatives in
    S.U. run outlets where possible.

    Social Activity
Good community spirit is vital to full enjoyment of university life, Chris promises to organise at least 2 class parties and get togethers before Christmas. Last year Chris was involved in organising one of the most successful first year class parties in redz nightclub which raised over E1000 for the tsunami disaster victims.
