........... their act together. Went to their event in Bakers Corner tonight. They have lowered the buy-in to 20, and rebuys are still €20. Stacks start at 1500, rebuys are also 1500. There was only 28 (maybe 30) runners, and a good few rebuys (just about covering 2 per player). So with that id say a total pool of no more than 1600. This time however, the payout seems to have gone up (or the % taken gone down). The top six got prizes, 6th and 5th got €50, 4th got €75, 3rd was €150, 2nd got €200 and the winner took away €500, paying a pool worth €1025. This was my third texasnights tournement, it was certaintly better run than the last two and i think they have got through their teething phase, the only problem i had tonight was with the blinds. They started out at 25/50 and doubled everytime, i.e next levels 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, I suppose the time is limited in a pub but all the same they were all the same length. All in all it was a good night (well it was my local). I think some of the criticism they have received on here is getting through and having an effect, long may it continue! I will definitely be attending one of their events again in the near future.

Did the buy-in/re-buys have a registration fee attached to them? I.e. €20+€3?
€1600 taken in, €1025 paid out, so they are basically taking 33% of all the money?
Compare that with Green Joker Poker who took 12.5% from the prize fund (if I remember it right) the last tournament.
I don't see how this is in any way a good choice for a night of poker apart from the chance to get drunk while playing.

Does anyone actually run freezeouts apart from celtic poker?

I cant stand the thought of rebuys-add ons to a tourney. i just dont like the concept of them

It's hard for the guys outside of the casinos to build a prize fund, and make their 12.5% worthwhile from a freezeout, unless it is a very high buy-in.

If it's a high buy in, it appeals to a different crowd than the €25 re-buy market.

There is something physciological about paying €50-€60 plus for a freezeout, when you could easily surpass that with €25 re-buys.

But do they not announce the total rebuys, topups and players?? they should be able to announce the entire takings and tell the players sometime after the topup period is over. If they were totally open with how much they take and give out, nobody would have any problems.
