Right I know nobody ever comes here to the chess forum, but this is something well worth knowing about.

The World Championships are on at the moment, an 8-player double round robin, 7 of the top active players in the world plus the current champion. The winner may get to play Einstein world champion Vladimir Kramnik to "reunify" the titles.

So far the tournament has been incredible, a huge proportion of decisive games. Bulgarian Veselin Topalov is running away with it.

You can follow it on www.chessbase.com or watch live broadcasts starting at 7pm Irish time on the servers www.playchess.com or www.freechess.org (free). Probably other places as well.

Been watching a couple of the games myself on the playchess.com server. They show all the games there every night along with audio commentary.

Topalov is certainly on a good run. A little bit surprised that Vishy isn't doing better.
