    Hi there,

I need to buy an entry level PC for my dad. Not having bought one in a while I am a little rusty on what is out there. All he needs it for is internet access and basic word processing/excel. No games or anything. A modem and ethernet connection are essential. I guess the options are dell or HP.

    Budget is around 600-700 euro.

    Any advice?

id go for dell over hp ,you wont get an ethernet connection as standard with dell, but they are easy to install.if its purely for word, and internet get the cheapest one they have ,it will be more then able for it.

Get a dell, best value in that price range. It will have ethernet on board, i doubt theres any motherboards being made these days without ethernet ? A modem will probably cost u 40 euro from the robbing ******s though

Yes you do and a modem is only. I'd recommend Dell too for low end system

This will do fine and including ethernet and modem works out at €483 including VAT and delivery. You get a fully legal Operating System license and a short warranty. Nigh impossible to beat
