Paid the $54 and Tried this last week and it was a bit of a crapshoot, I'm not really use to playing against such a big field.

So I won a ticket in the $3 rebuy MTT satelite on Saturday has anyone advice for this sort of game?

Sit tight play premuim hands untill the freezeout and then loosen up or?

What do you find the most effective way to play these?

If it's a rebuy you have to be willing to buyin once or twice. generally if I play these (which isn't very often) I double buyin at the start and play relatively loosely pre-freezeout. I'll play suited connectors far more often and limp in with a wide range of marginal hands hoping to accumulate some chips. I'll always top up at the break and then once I hit the freezeout I tighten up and start playing my normal freezeout game again. It does require a healthly amount of luck to win one of these, at some point you're going to have to take a 50/50 or 60/40 chance to progress in the tournament.

Before the freeze out you can build chips two ways..

Option 1) Sit tight and wait for the nuts or a very decent hand. Fold AQo etc.. wait till you get a premium hand and make it very expensive.

    OR (my fav tactic)

Option 2) GO nuts from the start, play every drawing hand. This might cost you a buy in or two.... As soon as you get to 4,000 or 5,000 switch to Option 1 above and the next time you get a hand you'll hopefully increase your stack to betwen 7.5k and 10k.

Topup if you have less than 8k, and in the freezeout play an aggresive game.

forget sitting tight in rebuys in general. you'll rarely do well in a 150+runner rebuy event by sitting tight. the leaders will have flown by the time your eventually off and running. you need a good start and be prepared to go for 2 rebuys and a top up to give yourself a better chance. play looely very early in your first rebuy in an attempt to double up because you are likely to run up against someone with deep pockets that will call an all in bet with Q7suited in his own bid to double up.

    Paper, Rock, Scissors.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

You have to adapt to the table.
If you are sitting with a bunch of maniacs, wait for your opportunity and then pounce, if it's a table of rocks than play more agressive, but make sure the antenna is in working order, so that you know when you're up against a monster.

I don't get too beat up if I'm in the middle of a field with an average stack when the freezeout starts, they don't pay out the money then.

Was playing this last week and there was an absolute maniac at my table who had bought in for 4000 chips (+topup), Cant remember his name but he was from sligo. He went all-in every single hand!

I had 4kand called him with AK (against 8 2) and it stood up.
Called him again with pocket 8s but his Q9 beat me. This continued throughout the rebuy period.

Out of curiosity, i decided to check the results of the tournament and low and behold this maniac won himself one of the two tickets on offer.

Be prepared to rebuy - It is a very tricky tournament

Twas Paul 'The Hangman' Roper. Lovely chap who was sat on my table in London. He is the most confident person I have ever met. He had no doubt he could win both in London & Baden.
