Hi, I used to do Shotokan Karate in Waterford and I've just started a job in Ballincolig, Cork so I'm looking for some clubs around either the ballincolig area or in Cork City.

I'm not necessarily looking for Karate clubs, I wouldn't mind tryin jiu-jitsu or kickboxing or anything really. So if anyone could give me the names and locations of a few matial arts clubs to have a look at I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks
    Jonathan.

    Hey Jonathan,
You should look up Craig O Flynn and Martin Horgan, they run a Muay
Thai camp in Ballincolig. Thats the club you want to be joining mate.

    Thanks, I'll look them up.

I've actually always been interested in Muay Thai, great fitness. Might be a bit too much for me but I'll give it a go.

If anyone knows of any other clubs for any martial arts please still let me know.

Or even if there's a website I could look at to find a club. I've been on the web all day looking with little success.

Just to second what Way.., **** Red said you should look up Ballincollig Muaythai. Craigs website is www.muaythaiireland.com, but I'm not sure if theres any info on the Ballincollig camp on that site, mainly the camp in Pattaya and Cork city.

the thing about the Olympic Karate Club is that lots of other martial arts use their halls, so you'll get info up there as well. I trained in TKD there over the summer.

Legend! Thanks everyone. It's about time I got back into training, the beer belly's getting so big people are asking me when I'm due!

Nice one indeed! The "post something to get a rise" troll tactic NEVER gets old. And I predict that it never will. What a witty, clever comedian you must have to be to come up with lines like that. Wow, or should I say, YAWN.

Indeed there is a guy after starting my own hall in the Glen sports and Resource Centre. He's on the Tuedays and I'm on the Monday and Wednesday. Except next week, he has left me have to hall for the Rick Clark seminar!!

I had not posted other clubs or even my own seeing as the original post had asked for clubs in ballincollig first! But Jonnyfingers there's loads of stuff in Cork city!!

    Just Google man!!

All the mirrors in the halls are great. Really good for checking stances and the like. Nice venue and they hire it out for E4 per person I think. (You might have to have your own insurance though, I'm not too sure)

Liam Beechinor has a BJJ club in Cork, but I don't know where because Cork confuses me with all it's hills and such.

Liam trains in the fairly flat Ballinlough (Number 10 bus from town or from Glasheen)!! In the tennis club behind the community centre. Monday and Wednesday freom 8pm I think?

Silly question, but is Cork hard to get too from Kilkenny? I have heard its either 1 1/2 hour drive or 3 hours. i was mostly looking for Thaiboxing training.
