Depends how seriously you want to take the game. It allows you to easily record which players are tighter/looser better/worse and then try and pick tables on which they are playing. It shows you where you're losing money and allows you to play back the hands to see if you can improve your play when you're in a similar situation again in the future.

It analyses your play based on starting hand, preflop action, position and opponents. It basically allows you to analyse your game after a session and make tweaks or changes that will result in your play being far more profitable (hopefully) moving forward.

I think it's excellent and a must if you're going to play at all seriously on sites where it's supported.

Sounds great, i play alot of 5-25k MTTs on PPP as well as 10-50 STTs. Is PPP supported? Must try the demo out tonight and get my head around it.

    Thanks.

Tribeca (PPP, VC et all) is not supported by Pokertracker. I son't find PT all that useful for STT's or MTT's but it is invaluable for cash games. Download it and play around with it inside the first 1000 hands provided you play on a site it supports. There's loads of guides about how to use it as well and you should read these.

Imposter, why isn't it any good for MTT's and STT's?

I was thinking on getting it as well, start playing on Pokerstars.
    Does it work on Betfair?

OK so what does it support partypoker.com? ANy others?

I only really play on VC and PPP. Havn't branched out further than those 2 as I get a reasoanble payout from eahc every week. I've watched the tv cash games on pokerheaven.com a few times and every single person looks like a fish. Might be interesting to play on one of those...

It supports most sites really, go to their website www.pokertracker.com for a full list..

I agree with Imposter in that I also found it's usefulness for STT's and MTT's to be limited, basically all I use it for in those is to see roughly how tight/loose and aggressive/passive a player is, but for cash games it really is invaluable, it took me a month or so to get really used to it, but now I am reaping the benefits and don't really play STT's or MTT's at all anymore really because I'm finding cash games so much more profitable....... I can't recommend it enough if you play cash games, both for finding leaks in your own game and eeking every last cent in profit from your opponents.....

It's a great programme for cash games, I've just reached 10k hands in Omaha and it lets you have a looks and see what you're doing right and wrong. For instance I'm playing far too passively lately and need to up the aggression in my Omaha game.

You can use it for STTs and MTTs, the only thing is that you need a really large sample size of STTs and especially MTTs before you can analyse your statistics and figure out what you're doing right or wrong. And by large I mean huuuge.

I use seperate PT databases so that I can use different player ratings files depending on the type of game I'm playing. It's very useful for tournaments. I always want to know how I'm playing from certain positions and who the players to watch are at my table. Since PT imports the entire Tourney history for every tourney I play, it will tell me exactly how much anyone I've played with before has won in those tourneys and how they played against me. That's valuable information you can't memorise or put in Excel.

Check the PT website re betfair.

As lafortezza says you need a huge sample of STT's/MTT's for it to be useful. You can see what hands are losing you chips etc. but it's difficult to get a good idea without a lot of data as blinds, number of players and many other things keep changing (compared to cash games that is).

Another use is as a way of recording your results although that could be done just as easily with a simple spreadsheet.
