    Well, it's not as cut and dried as the thread title, but new research shows...

    Mounting evidence suggests eating a diet rich in plant foods such as beans and soya cuts the risk of lung cancer.
    Course nothing beats lung cancer like giving up the smokes....but that's a different thread.

    This one is about preventing cancer with other methods.

    Are there many initiatives around the place to really help people find ways in their lives to avoid cancers?

    Wouldn't that be a great way to spend some of the health/science budget?

    I remember hearing stuff about it in school (rarely), live healthy and all that, but there doesn't seem to be any concerted campaign to research and heavily publicise the best ways of avoiding cancer. Why not?
