Here's a question for anyone in the know.
If you leave a job under bad terms, e.g. shove your job...etc.
Can you get your P45 direct from the revenue?? The company I work for has a history of messing people about when it comes to final pay, giving P45 etc....basically giving them the run around.

that company is legally obliged to give you your P45 no matter what.
If you have any trouble getting it, notify your local tax office immediately.
Do not stand for messing like this otherwise they'll keep on treating you, and others, in this manner.
You have rights you know, so use them and put them in their place :)
Likewise with backpay - if your not happy, you can ask for a full breakdown of your pay and you have the right to a payslip every month.
Lots more useful info here www.oasis.gov.ie
Take your time to research and know your rights.
Hope it works out for you.

    MMM,
Yep legally entitled etc. but I've seen their usual routine, passed to accounts...passed to owner, who's away...he comes back...passed to bookeeper. Usually a month or two of just being awkward.

These guys are regularly in the labour court...so they know how far they can push it.

I'd prefer to quit, and be able to go direct to revenue....I thought I'd read that it can be done somewhere!

your p45 has to come from your employer,
there is no way for the revenue to issue them.

you should get it before you leave and refuse to leave without it, they can do it in a few mins.

Easier said than done I'm afraid...accountant works off site, and my plan is to leave a.s.a.p. rather than hang around....which is what they'll want.

Guess I'll just quit and see what happens!

You're best bet is to ring up the Tax Office and speak to them. I had a problem with getting my P45 off an employer, two jobs back. I only got my tax cert and emergency tax sorted now.... after I rang the tax office.

You're still working there? Don't you have to serve notice first?

If there's one thing life thought me, it's don't burn yer bridges.

Employer has to issue you a P45.

Why dont you calculate the figures.

    Total earning =

    Total Paye paid to date=

    Total Prsi paid to date=

    No of insurancable weeks

    Total take home pay.

All this information should be on your payslip, the bookkeeper accountant just transfers the info from your payslip to the p45 simple.

it's not innocence, it is knowing your entitlements and making sure
you get them. If you can't get your P45 out of your employer you are the innocent...

    Seriously lads,
you are all correct...P45.. everyones entitled to it etc...so many thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately having run a few large operations and had maybe 300 staff come and go I've seen it from all angles.
Guy quits... management (or in my case board of directors) are in trouble...specialist job, could take months to get someone ..hastle etc. So someone goes "lets mess this guy around"... he complains to the revenue..they look into it...accountants delay as much as they can... revenue gets back on...eventually gets sorted.... childish... but it happens a lot, not much can done about it.

    Hence the origional question.
