    From TargetShootingIreland.org:
We have received news of a theft of a lap top that contains information regarding the Countryside Alliance membership. As many of our members have insurance with the Countryside Alliance, it might be advisable to check with the company to see if such personal details was on the stolen material.

The source of this urgent information also informed us that their credit card details was on the files contained in the stolen computer. The theft occured around the 20th September. This member in question received a letter from the company informing them of the theft and to check with thier respective bank.

We would be interested to know if any other member has received a similar letter. Many thanks to our member for bringing this to all our attention.

Sure hope all that info was encrypted.Otherwise that info will be worth a fortune to the more militant anti hunting/shooting groups!!! Not to mind the implications if somone decides to sue Countryside Alliance under the DPA for loss of their personal information to unathorised third parties

A word to the wise.If you DO insist in carrying all your confidential info and other peoples details on your laptop.MAKE SURE you get an encryption programme on your machine and USE IT!!! Pretty Good Privacy is available for free download and is a exellent programme that can save you much greif, and headaches.
Better still, treat your laptop like it contains the nuke missile launch codes. It does ,to your life! Information can be as dangerous as a loaded unattended gun to your saftey.
