    Hello everybody....

Im thinking about heading to NUI next year as a mature student ( I'll be 23 ) Just wondering what the college life is like there??

Ive been to gaillimh a few times and loved it, although I am a Dublin jackine so should I be in fear of my life?? Im kind of a surfer so the sea would have have a big influence on my decision... any replies would be helpful..cheers....

I started this year as a 23 year old fresher and its been brilliant so far. I had been in college in Dublin before but I hated it so after a few years break I wasn't sure how I'd find it but Galway is a lovely spot and I'd have no problems recommending it.

Ah it's grand. The rain and wind are fierce, though!

Well I just came over here after my degree and four years in the Big Smoke so I suppose I can relate. Its pretty good here, very relaxed (though sometimes esp in the Uni, things can be a little too laid back and ad hoc..) noone is really evil, lecturers are generally very helpful, and re the social life.. well its very studenty and country like which isnt necessarily a good thing, quite different from Dublin (I truely do miss Renards, Doyles, et al), but cheaper and the bouncers are actually civilised. Oh and expect to queue ito get into most places. Generally speaking, you dont realise how fortunate you are to live in Dublin, with everything happening and everything so close by no matter where you live, so you will miss it, but Galway is good fun, (there is even a Brown Thomas!), and the University is top notch.
