    What DVD recorder have you?

    I've SKY hooked up a Sony DVD Recorder and when 'Sync recording' is enabled on it, it will record any program that is set to Auto View.

    There were detailed set up instructions in the sony manual for this.

    You have a Sky Italia box? In Ireland?

    If your DVD recorder supports it (one of mine does, the other doesn't), they can either control the Sky box, or listen for the signals sent out when a programme set up in the Sky Personal Planner goes off. Depends on the recorder. If theres nothing in your manual about it, you could try the Phantom PVR device that provides these features for a DVD or VCR.

    You probably have the Pace DS-430N which looks quite like that, but not exactly the same. Thats a Sky Italia box.

    Here's the same box with the Sky branding. :rolleyes:

    As for the issue, I'm not aware of anything the Sky box can do to trigger a DVD Recorder. Sky would be more interested in pushing Sky+ than this.

    In reverse, the DVD Recorder reacting to an Autoview setting, dunno if it can be done. :(

    Ok try this;

    Back of sky box there is 2 scart outputs. Try using the VCR one, connect this to the SCART In on the DVD Rec. Then the other one from the DVD Rec back to the TV.

    Give it a try. Also have a look around the setting on the DVD Rec for...eh something :p I dont know anything about a tevion dvd recorders.

    Its nothing to do with SKY if it cant pick up the signal ie your DVD Rec doesnt support the feature

    Let us know

    Found a soloution for this baught a gadget of ebay for about €10 called a pvr, it connects to vcr output on sky box, when you select autoview from your planner it emits an infrared command to your recorder and volla it starts recording, end of timering days for me.

    Now I have to say I'd be seriously interested in that gadgertry.
    Do you have a linkie? or details about it? Or has anyone else?

    I Have used this for the last few days and it's the bees knees, I have found out since that they can be purchased in maplin for around the €40 mark, I Seriously recomend to anybody that has a Regular sky box connected to a Video / Dvd Recorder get one of these, You will never have to timer a program again
