i`m applying for a new job.

i have a criminal history, nothing major - larceny, and 2 threathening behaviour/language orders. all years ago.

do i declare them and get blown out from the start or do i risk denying i`ve ever been in trouble.

asked quite a few and the general consensus is to stay schtum.

just looking for more opinions.(or the proper forum! sorry!)

Depends. If it's an important job where they'll check up on that, tell them, if it's not...keep schtum :)

Keep your mouth shut. You cannot underestimate how dumb/lazy HR people are. They will not check your criminal record (assuming you are going for a non-security related job.)

it's quite hard actually to check one's criminal record - they would generally have to ask you can they.

OK, going to move this one to the wrok forum, you might get better replies there.
    Good luck.

i would keep quiet, however if anyone found out then there would be every reason to sack you assuming you were asked and lied. if you are just not asked there is no reason to tell...
