looking for some information about getting into accountancy

I graduated from NUIG in 2003 with a 2.1 in Commerce specialising in accountancy and have taken the last two years out travelling and doing abit of work here and there around the world.

I am now hope and looking to start sorting out my life - reckon a career in accountancy wouldnt be to bad and am wondering how to get into it. decided chartered is the way forward and that getting into the big 4 is the best route
    Here comes the question

Can I/Do i still apply in the milk rounds in October even though im not a final year student or is there a more direct route that I can take. Also will the fact that in the two years I took off, I did nothing accountancy related be a major disadvantage to me

    Thanks

I would say apply in the graduate rounds, since you have no previous experience. Your time off travelling shouldn't make difference. In fact it might stand to you - many accountancy/business grads seem to get the travel bug and **** off to Oz after about two years.
