Since Bryan Singer won't be involved, I'm not interested at all.

looks like there are sentinels in it...

I wouldn’t be too worried about Singer not being involved; Brett Ratner will hopefully bring more of an adult theme to X3, for the older viewer.
X1 and X2 I thought was set more for the kids and Ratner should change that style to his own - I think that’s badly needed.

taking abord the majority of his films Ratner doesnt present anymore of an adult theme then singer had. While yes he did Red Dragon and Family man. He also did the two Rush hours, After the Sunset and of course Money Talks.

unless of course you mean adult as in a raunchy Madonna style adult theme. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245247/.

besides. the material will for the most part set the theme, if the above rumours are anything to go by and the film will involve fight after fight...then i doubt much of an adult theme will be present.

i've had enough of the theme - people with special powers discriminated against, just like the jews...its time for some x-fighting and it looks like this film could deliver on those grounds..let's hope so cos ratner i dont think is capable of doing stuff other then enjoyable action films, so hope he just goes for that instead of trying and failing on something else.

The difference between Singer and Ratner is that Singer makes good films.

Should have made myself more clear, I was referring to Ratner doing X3 in a darker way none sexual theme more violent set for the 18teen plus audience.
And from what I’ve read X3 will be based on The Dark Phoenix saga Comics, which is a great story, just hope Ratners gives it the look to match.

    Dark Phoenix Comic Story line:
The Dark Phoenix saga is one of the greatest comics stories ever. Conceived by writer Chris Claremont and penciller John Byrne (credited as co-plotters, and aided immeasurably by inker Terry Austin), the story begins in The Uncanny X-Men #129 when Professor X sends his team in search of two new mutants detected by Cerebro. The figures in question turn out to be Kitty Pride, who would eventually join the team as Sprite, and the flashy disco singer Dazzler, who would go on to star in her own book. Little do the X-Men know that they're walking into a trap set by the Hellfire Club, a group of supervillains that seem perfectly matched to counter our merry mutants. The insidious part of the plot, however, is how a mysterious man named Jason Wyngarde seems to have been Jean Grey's lover in another time, another era, and how that might give him control over her now. Jean Grey was, like Cyclops, an original member of the X-Men, and had the power of telepathy (a gentle power, like that of the Invisible Girl of the same era). When she was reborn as Phoenix in issue #108, however, she became power incarnate. Can it be controlled, or must the X-Men make a choice between the woman they love and the fate of the universe? It's all here in this nine-issue volume, plus Wolverine alone, Emma Frost, the return of original members Angel and Beast, and a showdown with Lilandra's Imperial Guard in one of comics' great milestone issues, X-Men #137………> same cable and bishop aren’t included in it but thats for X4 i guess.

I know what you mean, i just dont think Ratner has shown much work to prove that he can firstly do a darker film and secondly acutally wants to do a darker film then what Singer has already done.

I liked Singer's portrayel of the X-men i think its a very balanced approach to the subject (X-men is nowhere near as dark as sin city etc, but its not all bright and simple like fantastic four). I am angry with him for abandoning the series for superman as up until now he had been well pacing the story development towards the dark pheonix saga. And i am worried that handing the reigns over to both a new writing team and director might knock that pace off and give us a poor climax to a build up that appears to have been building up slowly since the first film.

(p.s i was joking on the sexual reference)

You make a good point and I agree, singer didn’t do a bad job on X1 and X2 and the special effects in X2 were excellent > But sometimes it’s nice to get a fresh perspective, I guess only time will tell if Ratners manages to pull it off.

X2 was so much, much worse than anything I had feared about an X-men movie. It should have been fantastic.

The characters had been introduced already.
The Ultimate X-men had been created between X1 and 2 so it showed it was possible to retell the story of the X-men to both a new and old audience without the history but to stay true to the characters.
And most importantly it should not have been possible to screw up "God Loves, Man Kills" the story on which the movie is based. And yet somehow they managed to.
And then to top it all off, they decided to screw up the start to the Pheonix story too.

I HATE that movie so much.

Well I was depressed when heard Vinnie Jones signed on as Juggernaut but seeing Omega Red involved makes me feel better.

That sounds like garbage. I'd like more from an X-Men movie than just fight scenes, and so far that just seems to be a big bunch of fight scenes for the sake of it. Yes, there are a lot of characters in the X-Men universe, but there's no need to include them all in a bunch of big scraps in an attempt to fit them in.

Dare I mention another film based on a franchise with so many characters that they tried to squeeze in, they just had a bunch of fight scenes that were roped together with a plot like a piece of twine, you know, Street Fighter?

Sorry, but that just doesn't interest me at all, and I loved the previous X-Men films.

it might be a case that some of theses are bit parts like colussos in X2?
