Search through old threads, there's plenty of info there.

i went interrailing around eastern europe a couple of years back, had a great time, i'd definitely reccomend the east instead of france, spain, portugal side of it...it's much cheaper, less touristy, and great fun...
we flew into prague, went through slovakia, hungary, slovenia, croatia, back up to poland, through germany and finished in amsterdam! you gotta finish there! although germany and holland arent included in the zone d ticket so they'd cost you a bit extra, not too expensive though.

there's tons of great cities along the way..as i said prague, also bratislava, budapest, zagreb, dubrovnik, krakow, warsaw...to name but a few and if you're into taking a bit of time away from the trains you can go island hoping around the coast of croatia, its a beautiful place.

i went for 22 days i think, in most of the bigger cities in eastern europe there'll be loads of people waiting at the bus & train stations offering places to stay, just be wary some of them could be trying to rip you off but alot are above board, so most places you'll never be stuck for a place, losts of cheap hotels around hungary, poland, zagreb...in prague we were caught with no where to stay cos we arrived ayt about 11 at night and every we went was booked so prob better to book ahead in the tourist cities. cant really remember how much i brought with me but it wasnt too expensive. food/drink is fairly cheap, accomodation the same really. so id say 1200euro is more then enough for 3 weeks....
