I have a sony headunit that requires you to put in a code to reset it after its been uninstalled or lost power,

The remote is used to install it and I have the sequence of what has to be put in, but it does'nt seem to be picking anything up!!

Does anyone have any idea what sort of cost is involved in having one repaired??

Maybe a stupid question, but did you check the batteries on the remote?

If it's any help - I too had the problem with a stereo in an older car. I left it into to Sony to be repaired / reset. Cost me €47 (two years ago)

    Yeh spot on Eireal,

What happened was that it started being a bit tempramental in when it was rotated out none of the lights came on but closed the active black bit worked fine,

If I hit the reset button etc after putting a cd in it spits it out and the little blue light to show you where to put the cd lights up is lit so I dunno,

Would it do that if the fuse was blown?? Apologies I know nothing about this!!

Im nearly sure if the fuse was gone it wouldnt ejecting the cd or closing/opening.

Is it giving you the option to enter in your password?if so when you enter the p/word is the screen just staying black or opening/closing?if its the latter id say its the flux between the unit itself and the flip down face thats damaged.

Its fairly common on the active black units,in or around 50euro sounds right for it to be fixed

    Thanks Eireal,

Its not opening or closing no matter what I do,

If anyone knows where I can get it repaired that'd be great, or can pm me details if they reckon they can fix it and I can give you the cash!!

safesounds do repairs but I can imagine they would be pricey enough.

Do you have a number for them by any chance?

I dont mind spending a bit on it cos expensive to replace it with something similar to what it is and looks the part and matches dials etc that are in mine!!

Jeez, sometimes I wonder do people actually read the responses. Sony themselves do repairs and have a standard fee of €47 (two years ago) for car systems out of warranty if its down to faulty parts. The repair centre is based in Tallaght:

    B A V S
    Unit 9,Cookstown Enterprise Pk
    Belgard Road
    Tallaght
    Dublin
    D24

    Telephone: 01-4624855
    Fax: 01-4624856

Give them a call and have the serial number to hand. The turn around time is 48 hours.

I did read it but to be fair it said 2 years ago and was trying to figure out if someon had a previous problem that could be fixed without sending it off etc,

Cheers for the info though, I'l give them a call in the morning!!

I've found them to be decent enough. These days though I wouldn't dream of buying in Ireland as the prices are stupid and I fit everything myself.
