Lost your BF2 cd key ? don't format!

Just posting this here to make it easy for "search" purposes .

Had it in another thread but it got locked , maybe a mod might consider pinning this but if not it should be easy to search for it in 6 months or so when any of us encounter this problem . Also if anyone comes accross a " how to not lose all your settings when uninstalling and reinstalling " they might post it also .

Anyway , back on topic , lost your cd key ??

then go to regedit , navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc .

you will find your cd key there

Thanks Jonski, but the problem with mine was unfortunately I uninstalled BF2 and hence there is nothing in the registry...

Bought a brand new copy today....its worth it though

I'd imagine so. Simply select recvoer user by email, and Voila, you have your password emailed to you.

Since the 1.12 patch the cd key in the regsitry is encrypted
anyone know how to figure it out now?:(

Yeah thats a good idea back up all youre CD keys as reg entries. I have my BF ones like this so when I need to change cd key or do a reinstall i only have to rerun the reg program as im too lazzy to dig out my various boxes and retype the cd keys manually, doing it onece was enough. Thankfully this does not happen too often but I do reinstall about every 3 months or so.
