    Well all
before I start sorry for posting another upgrade question but its desision time
I will be honest Im a bit of a cheap ass and always try and avoid going for the big upgrade , no its mini upgrade time again , I may be able to get my hands on P4 3.0Ghz Prescott with 1mb Cache socket 478 so i was going to base my mini upgrade around this part.
I currently Im running a P4 2.8Ghz HT 512k cache 2gig of DDR PC3200 Ram and IS7 mainboard and ATi 9800pro 128mb. It plays every game I have pretty good has struggled abit with BF2. The question is will i be ok upgrading to the links below and staying at 478 or should I go all out and go for 775 intel board or may be 939 AMD board based system

    motherboard
    GFX CARD

I must point out i will be in the states in a couple of weeks time hence the american parts.

    Thanks
    Joe

well the motherboard certainly looks sexy, but this would be a good opertunity to go pci-express

yeah going to pci-e hmm i am considering it but if i go PCi-e my upgrade expence will prob go to about 1200euro instead of 600euro , what im really asking is will this system be completely obsolete in 4-5months or will it have a bit more life in it , Software companys like EA games seem to forget about the little guys not every one can afford to buy Alienware Aurora's and Dell XPS systems
and with recommended spes EA have for BF2 the next games they release will only get higher ..... it will eventually force me into retirement

you wont see any performence increase going from 2.8 to 3GHz.

Time to go the whole way! the newer GFX cores aren't seeing AGP, so it would appear you have no choice.

OCUK have the 7800GT at a good price ATM, i'd go with that over any ATi at the min. Or wait for the R520 to make a fashionable late entrance....

    Took alook at OCUK
    BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC 256MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-009-BG) 1
    £299.95 £299.95
    Abit AN8 SLi Fatal1ty nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-070-AB) 1
    £109.95 £109.95
    AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3700BNBOX) (CP-121-AM) 1
    £167.50 £167.50
    Subtotal £577.40
    VAT £101.05
    Total £678.45

678 sterling and i would be getting new HD drive aswell so about 150more on to that, saving some money by going amd and using my current ram.... pricey but tempting all the same
