I didn't think such a thing existed until I saw this.

    Wonder what it sounds like....

What you guys need really is a triple coil and a quadruple coil with 180+different pickup combinations on a 9 string guitar in one of those weird shapes.

So a double coil setup is a humbucker right? Designed to cut back on the hiss prevalent in the earlier single coils? What's the advantage of having 3/4/5/6/7/etc.... coils?

You get to look like a big man? Other than that I can't think of a reason anyone would want one.

    So it's a compensation thing? :p

Yeah, like a middle aged guy in a 4x4 on his way to the office :p

I suppose there must be some reasoning to it but, tbh, the greatest change in tone comes from having pickups that are far apart from each other. Is there that much difference in tone over the width of a coil?

    Higher output.

    Higher than EMG? ;)

    Yup. Bassier too.

You could use different wiring configurations for each coil and create crazy sounds.

But Yngwie says the tone comes from here ***points to guitar*** nice and clean and the distortion comes from here ***points to amp***. Why would you want to make Yngwie angry?

Cos he doesn't like donuts? :p

Don't make Yngwie angry. You won't like Yngwie when he's angry.

I don't think it'd get that "crazy" tbh. I reckon you'd actually have to be quite careful not to defeat the hum cancelling effects.

    Oh, now you've done it!

That's about.... ooh I'd say maybe 12 minutes worth, give or take. :)

You've obviously never thought about putting a theremin into a guitar :|

I'd say those are all for the same song. ;)
