3 tries in 3 matches and only played in the Senior Cup two years ago. I'm absolutely blown away by how fast he's come through, and to do so well in his first games, albeit he had somewhat of a bad game last Friday. This fella is going places.

After him it will be Luke Fitzgerald, currently 6th year in Blackrock flying through the ranks. He is just on a different level to anyone else in schools rugby.

Lets hope they all make it.No hard in having plenty of competition for places.
I hope Johnny O' Connor will make a big impact on the irish scence this year.He was a definate starter in the lions squad imo.Back,Hill and co. are all well past their best. :D

kearney is quick but he really has to learn to tackle....and soon. i see him as another jimmy norton....great going forward but useless in defence

That's Aurélien Rougerie's problem in the French squad... It's such a pity to see players with massive talent in attack but useless in defense...

if he can't defend he shouldn't play ;)

I'm also very impressed with him. But again it shows how developement in this country is terrible, there should be a lot of this talent being developed and brought threw each year but there isn't. Go to any school's cup matches and there is always talent at it, from smaller schools aswell as the larger schools but so little is coming threw......something doesn't add up!

yeah for ireland, but not for Leinster in Celtic league.

Great players that can't tackle - Lomu, O'gara....

so you are saying he is great? ;)

why not for leinster too btw?

^ i think he meant he shouldn't play for ireland, because of his weak defense, but should play for leinster.

personally, i like the way he plays. nice and unpredictable. i'm guessing Cheika has high hopes for him too - he plays his kind of rugby. haven't seen Luke Fitzgerald play yet, but my friend's rooming with him in blackrock, and says he's the next o'driscoll, and he's not given to rash comments

burn out + people generally being fed up after playing under such pressure for 2 or sometimes 3 years in a row

People go from the spotlight of schools rugby to the relative anonymity of club/university rugby. Or people burn out. Or people expect schools rugby to be the height of their achievements and aren't as hungry after that. I don't really know

Gordon D'arcy went downhill for years after winning the senior cup with Clongowes because people expected too much of him, went from being the big fish ina small pond

Well I saw him in the Ivy during the summer, so he hasn't kicked the partying yet

now now, there's nothing wrong with partying. especially when you're a rugby player
