Delicious, but didn't a guy sell one on SS.org a few while back for less that half that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

Rather predictably, I like that a lot :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

Heres a cheaper one for ya Karl. Thats a flamed top, but I guess its a bad pic, cos I dont see much in the way of figuring..

I don't know, but the reserve on that guitar could be anything tbh. Very expensive, but the seller is correct, it's a rare mother****er.

Ok, it's only a Prestige, but still, check this out

Now THAT's the fuggin' thing there Doc! 2027 is 27" scale, isn't it? Pity that guy was only selling within the US.

Doesn't look like it's got Piezo electronics though. Only see 1 switch and 2 knobs.

No, no piezo unfortunately, but how much more black could it be? The answer is...

But seriously, its just a 'real' pic of the 7-string JC you posted the other day. Most 'catalogue' photos are crappy i find, J-customs included.

The only giveaway thats a flame maple top is the natural edge binding (PRS style), but ive seen that black onyx colour in the flesh and its sexy as hell. It seems a bit strange that a flame top would look good in transparent black, but it does somehow...

Anyhow, I plan on ordering that torquoise JCustom tonight or tomorrow, im 90% decided to get it...heres another pic, what do yez reckon? ( i know the colour aint to everyones taste...)

I didn't know the JCs were bound. It is indeed ****ing gorgeous though. The only thing that would make it nicer is if it had an Ebony fretboard without inlays. Still, there is a guitar I'll be getting soon with that kind of fretboards! ;)

Oh, and I agree with the Doc, get a Seven String, Voodoo!

Dude, I am ****ing gasping for you to get that guitar, I can't even imagine how you're coping with it.

Any time frame on the arrival of your black monster KH?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Before I even touch that guitar, I'm wiping it down with the strongest cleaner I can find. God only knows what sort of bodily fluids will end up on it

Ibanez RG1527 and Tokai PR50T is how I'm coping with it. ;)

It Wasn't You, I was given a few dates before that didn't happen, and the latest ETA is tomorrow. But I wouldn't put too much faith in that. Let it take however long it takes tbh.

Ha, I'd love if it came and you had to go to Dublin. Oh, how my belly would wobble as I laughed at your misfortune!

Naw, it hasn't been shipped off to the dealer yet. Has to go to him, and I have to pay him before it'll be shipped off to me. So that's not going to happen, trust me on that Feyfey. ;)

When's the Stealth due? I'd love that RG, but it's a problem for after I get the rest of my long list of gear I want.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

    Still no word.

Suprisingly not. I imagine I'll be worse than a 5 year old once it's been shipped though.

No. You know it's the right thing to do! Buy it!!!

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

NO!!! I'd have to sell other guitars to be able to justify that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Save, scrimp and scrounge everything you can and BUY THE ****ER!

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

You misunderstand me. It's not the cost, it's the "I don't really need a **** load of new gear again" thing at the back of my head. Guilt I think it's called.

Ah, I had the pleasure of playing one of those lovely Universes on Friday. Absolutely gorgeous guitar altogether! I was nearly going to buy one, but I didn't have quite enough, so I got the RG1527. The one I played was seriously nice, I was very hungover and I don't play well when I'm like that whatsoever, but christ, this thing was nearly playing itself, all I had to do was hold it, and let it work!

If I was you, I'd bump that Universe up to the very summit of your list.

Or, that lovely J Custom 7 String I'll be getting (hopefully), which would probably be a smidge better, having the Mahogany/Flamed Maple body and DiMarzio Tone Zone & Air Norton pickups, as opposed to the Basswood body and DiMarzio Blaze pickups of the Universe.

    Yes, but it's a good problem! :D

Seriously though, really nice guitars. I'm seriously thinking of getting myself a matching J Custom set:

DiMarzio pickups, too! Tone Zone/Blue Velvet/Air Norton in the 8270, I'd ****ing love to hear what that sounds like.

No no, the I have already decided. I'm heading to Japan in January, and fully plan to visit Ishibashi in person so I can bring back a J Custom or 2, hopefully that set I speak of there.
