Are there many people signed up / signing up to do the Half marathon in the Phoenix Park this Saturday?

Depending on how people do this weekend would you consider entering the Dublin Marathon? I have been running since the start of June (with breaks in between due to little injury) and had not considered it, but if i complete the half marathon in decent shape on Saturday am i fooling myself to think i could get ready to do the full one on 31st October?

Was signed to do it but i have been advised not to do it as its the wrong distance for marathon training.

Long runs should be at least half marathon every week for the past month and coming month.

I however do want to finish it in a good time so really depends on your goal

i'm signed up....no 881. theres going to be a good few running it. b murphy...i'm in the same boat as yourself...running since around start of june...been injured the last while (since end july)..but only had to stop training last 2 weeks. Started training again this week. Reckon I will be able to do half marathon ..but will struggle (did 10m in 1,24..but wont come close to that this time..for first 10m of half marathon).

also want to do the marathon...and depending how i feel (injury wise) after the half marathon i will be trying the full marathon.

transform...if uor just looking to finish the marathon you dont need to run half marathon+ every week between now and marathon.Deffo should do a couple of big runs 16-20m...but not every week..thats too much..you'll be wrecked by the time the marathon comes up (unless you've been training at this level for 3/4 months now)

Number 1313 here for the weekend.
I did the 10mile last month in 1hr30.
I am going to try and up the pace slightly for the half marathon as i finished the 10miler with plenty to spare with a 3/4 sprint for final 300 meters.

But like yourself i will make marathon decision after saturday. I would love to do the marathon and it has been my aim all along but as time went on since June i felt it was going away from me. If i was doing the marathon i would be aiming to just finish mainly but a sub 4hr would not be beyong my capabilities i hope.

Am entering on the day. I was doing the marathon from way back just left it too late to to register for the half.

If the half is your longest run since June you are leaving it a bit late.
Why push yourself into a decision on Saturday ?
Why not try to get in one or two 16+ runs in the next few weeks. That might be a better indication than a half mar race. It can be very easy to get it wrong in a race. Go out too fast and you can end up having a nightmare last few miles. That applies to runnners of all ability. You could end up making the wrong decision cos you messed up in the race and felt like crap afterwards

Thats a bit of a sweeping statement, it might be the wrong distance for your plan but others have factored this in. Will be 2500 runners at the half, a lot of them will enter the marathon, they cant all be wrong !!

I started my 20 milers around 6-7 weeks ago, a half race is perfect for me now.
