NIC drivers?

I've got a spare (oldish) NIC card in my computer, which apparently requires drivers.
Apart from taking the damn thing out and trying to look for a manufacturer on it, is there anyway I can get generic drivers for the thing? I'm mean - it is just a NIC after all. It's probabably IBM or something like that.

    S.
