Hi, I just got a computer, and a constant high pitched noise and a clicking noise started once files were copying over, it never stopped and never crashed the machine but the noise is unbearable, I think it is one of the hardisks. I am using the other hard disk. Any advise or help from anyone on this? Should I return the hard disk if the other one doesn't start fu*king up? (Currently formatting the second hard disk so don't know if its going to fu*k up yet)

clicking suggests a done-busted' hard drive, like the read arm or electromagnet is bust

If there's anything on the clicking disk, back it up NOW. It hasn't got long left.

    Hi,

Sounds like your drive's gone to sleep and now its failing to spin up again.

Try going into windows power options and disabling hard disk sleep.

It's probably ****ed though - back up now. (It wouldn't happen to be an IBM Deathstar by any chance?)

if your hd is making alot of noise .especially alot of loud clicking then its a case of replacing it .it's dying on you ,not long left for it .the proper sound should be a quiet whirring sound ,not what you hear. as stephen said if you have to back anything up and can do it , DO IT QUICK .also since you say you just bought the pc ,it should be still under guarantee ,harddrive and all .
