    From RTE.ie

DAA announce location of second terminal

Dublin Airport has announced the location of the new second terminal.

It will be located on the approach to the main terminal building.

It will encompass the area currently occupied by Corballis House and a number of car hire firms.

It is expected to be fully operational by 2009, when Dublin Airport's forecast passenger numbers will be in excess of 22 million per year.

How will this new terminal fit in such a small space? Would you say they will move the approach roads?

The existing terminal isn't crap really. Some parts of it are, but mainly because is't old and build for a bygone era.

Anyway, T2 as if read the attached pdf correctly, basically looks like Pier C rebuilt!

    The new Terminal 2

Sarsfield, they've made a balls-up in that .pdf alright! Muppets!

toggling between p11 and p12 seems to suggest that the new 'terminal' will see passengers being bussed to planes out on the tarmac! Of course they have actually ommited the terminal building itself in that montage, that'd be hilarious if it wasn't so indicative of how we can expect the rest of this project to 'progress'. One more time-muppets!

But Pier C will be gone in the new development. Will it be built around or demolished for the development? How long has Pier C been in use? How much did it cost to build? It can't have paid for itself yet surely?

That doesn't necessarily matter. If you bought a can of paint for €10, but you didn't really like the colour, would you put up with it for 3-5 years, jsut so as to not have to spend another €10?

Personally, I'd have picked a colour that would pass the test of time - not a whitewash to temporarily cover the cracks :)
