To post a bad beat on the site is sacrilege and its something newbie's do and probably always will. I have wanted to rant so often it hurts, particularly about bad beats on the web.

I haven't suffered so much during live games and having 2 x firsts and a 3rd in the 6 live games I played in the last 6 months I have no reason to complain. When I have had the so called "bad beat" its probably because the other punter thought/was hoping I was bluffing and called AA with 88 and hit on the river.

But when the shoe is on the other foot isn't that one of the biggest kicks in poker. "When you’re the Victim on the Flop" and "become Killer on the River" I know it makes me smile every time.

I guess what I am saying is every now and again I will call when I reckon I may be behind just for the sake of it, just to see if I can hit my straight or flush or trip out 2s on the turn or river. When I do and I hit, has the other guy suffered a bad beat or has he shown a lack of willingness to walk away from pocket pairs?

What I have found is I am more willing to take this gamble on the web then in live games so my question to you is

DO YOU APPLY A DIFFERENT STRATEGY ON THE WEB THEN YOU DO AT LIVE GAMES AND IF SO WHY?????

I am much, much more likely to take silly risks in online, because no matter what anyone says to me, the fact of the matter is YOU WILL WIN with worse cards in online more than live games. I think a lot of people think like this and therefore play with muck in online games which is why I'm more willing to gamble.

I think everybody adopts a different strategy when playing online. Many a time I've been playing a live game and had a tough decision which I would play in online but not in live.

Big problem i've personally found is that the online play is affecting my live play. I was playing in the €30 freezeout in the Fitz the other week, and kept on getting brilliant hands, both preflop and after the flop. The problem was that i wasn't optimising my payout from the hands. I kept on overbetting and making everyone fold. There always seems to be some muppet who will call you online, so i've got into this habit of overbetting. The other thing is making decisions of whether to call, fold, or raise within the space of a few seconds in a live game, almost as if the timer of ten seconds to make a decision is running out!

I agree with you here. I once seen a player who always seem to make good money on .25/.50 make a very poor turn call for a straight which he ended up hitting. I said to him "How could you call that bet with a straight draw?". His answer, "The river pays loose calls". It certainly seems to work for him, always seems to have a big stack. No way am I going to start relying on a dodgy river though, I go by the odds/player info every time.
