The main advantage is that you contribute to making boards a better place by allowing the admins to pay for hosting/more reliable servers/coke/hookers....

the warm and fuzzy feeling you get for helping out a site you like to frequent and the people you would miss if the Admins couldn't afford to get a new server when the old ones knees give way...
