    I have Always wanted to Join the Guards but also always wanted to do Computers.I am presently going into my 2nd Year Masters Degree in Computers, If i wanted to Work in the IT part of the Garda how would you go about doing it, Applying for the garda and just go through the process or what would people suggest?Also When are they Recruiting again?

    I'm not entirely sure. You would definitely go through the normal route, but your qualifications would be noted. Afaik, after passing out, you do some mandatory street time and then get to apply for specialist areas such as Fraud Squad, Special Branch, IT, etc.

    You'd have to pass out as a Guard first, then after your probationary period in a station, you could apply for a transfer to their IT section. If you started training today as a guard in Templemore, it would take you a minimum of 2 1/2 years to be elligable to transfer into their IT section.

    Another option would be to join the Civil Service and work in the garda IT section via that route.

    Finally, you could always go in as a contractor through one of the many agencies that supply IT staff to the guards.

    Where is the best place to get the sample app test or courses that cover this?
