    Hi all,

I have been working on trying to fix a laptop for the last 3 hours and cant figure it out, windows acts like the ctrl key is pressed all the time so eg:Press S and the save dialog box comes up, scanned for viruses it had 3 but cleaned them, not the keyboard because rebooting fixes it for a while(you get about of 3-4 minutes of work done, I have taken the key off to make sure its not a physical problem. I have seen this on many discussion boards same problem but nobody has yet posted the solution.

would be grateful for any ideas, might be something very simple.

Oh and I have checked accessibility options all turned off.

    D

If you hold the ctrl key down, does it act as though ctrl is on or off.

Try a live OS, say knoppix or ubuntu live, and see if it's Windows or hardware

sounds like a "sticky keys" problem with the laptop. Sticky keys are like ALT keys that switch the keys around on a laptop to get more than one use of each key!

Hey i think i had the same problem as this before on a Dell laptop. Look for the Num LK button with Scroll Lk written below it in a different colour purple in mines. By pressing this button this should fix it, hopefully
