Has anyone else noticed that 'Laser-Bit' device on the Headford Road side of the AXA Insurance building in Woodquay? It's about two storeys up. It looks like a CCTV camera only it's horizontal and is aimed directly at a similar device mounted on the wall of the house adjacent to City Car Wash, a distance of about fifty metres.

It's some sort of laser network bridge device, but why use such an expensive technology when wireless/broadband could have just as easily been used? What company/organisation is in that house next to the City Car Wash anyway?

Yeah, it's a laser-ethernet bridge. They're actually not that expensive really, and certainly more secure than using a WiFi bridge as it's a very tightly focused point-to-point beam. Certainly alot cheaper than running any sort of cable across a street, and probably on-par with a wireless setup, considering the security factor.
