    I'M A MONSTER!!!!!!!

Classic, can't wait. It's so well written. I like how all the arcs are interspersed and come together at different points.

Saw the first episode last night, I wont give anything away except to say it was hilarious.

    Yeah it was great!

"Nobody's going to enter that old claptrap" *shudder and smile*

GOB: *If I had a son."
    Narrator: "He does."

The website (I assume you all realised it was an actual website - I visited it :D).

    And many more.

Because people are idiots. Utter idiots who'd rather watch "Everyone Loves Raymond" and I'm going to get really REALLY annoyed so I'll stop posting...

lol true,it does make you angry! Raymond winning best comedy and a number of actor awards was insulting! Its a terrible show,I guess american's like their comedy to be unintelligent rather than intelligent.

The problem is that it is not regular American Sit-Com humour. Plus putting it up against two NFL games doesnt help either.

I really think this will be the final AD season, sadly. Best comedy on TV right now, by far.

when does it start over here?

Can I just say that I think Arrested Development is one of the funniest programs that I have ever seen. Only laughed at loud at it and CYE as far as I can remember, while you have to admire Seinfeld's plotlines and quotabilitiy. Anyway my point...there are plenty of worse sitcoms out there than Everybody Loves Raymond, which I hated at first but it has a certain charm that appeals to me. Obviously its not as clever as Arrested Development, CYE, or Seinfeld (those of the highest comedic standard) but in many ways, its tough to write a comedy based around traditional family values where no-one gets offended, family viewing. It has its own place, and while it probably shouldnt pick up as many emmy's as it does, and be as popular as it is in the states, (especially when comapred to something as clever as AD) there are plenty worse comedies doing the rounds. I would class it as the same level as Cheers or Frasier. Good but not great. It is miles ahead of stuff like King of Queens etc.

Fantastic start to the season. I watched the first two seasons all in one go, so it's going to be hard to wait a week for each new episode, which I suppose is testament to how good it is. Who'd have thought that a combination of Fox and Ron Howard could be so enjoyable?

i cant wait:im watching season 2 on bbc4 on thursdays and again on bbc2 on sundays......BRILLIANT show.i only saw the last few episodes from season 1 though..out of all the episodes ive seen (which isnt that many) my favourite is probably the one with Bring Your Daughter To Work Day (season 1)or the Christmas Party (season 2)....sorry i dont know the names of the episodes....

also although "Everybody Loves Raymond" was definetly the worst of the 5 shows nominated for Best Comedy at the Emmys, its still a pretty good show. But when you compare it to "Arrested Development" or "Scrubs" its obviously nowhere as good....

.....and that was tonights rant.Thank you and goodbye

I didn't catch many episodes on Season 2 thanks to TV3's seemingly slapdash programming department. Anybody know when (if?!) they're planning on airing season 3?

Season 2 is out on DVD (Region 1) in a few weeks. Anybody know what site has the best deal on it for pre-orders?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,731 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Anyone see it yesterday (series 3, US)?
I thought it was like a not-very-good episode of the Simpsons. Hope it was just a glitch.

Agreed. It was just too bizarre - the whole "for British eyes only" wasn't funny and didn't get funnier on repeat. As you say, hopefully just a glitch.

Bar Michael's trip to the British part of town, I thought the episode was solid enough. Some great lines in the first ten minutes especially. The parts outside of the british street were funny I thought. The whole 'For British eyes only' thing wasn't funny. Not the one of the best episodes I've seen but still not bad.

    'More touching'

    The Tiny IRA? Weird...

First episode was class and the second one was alright... Not liking this whole going out with the British chick thing...

Photo of Sadaam and Rummsfeld was genius though :)

Yesterday's new episode was excellent, despite the few "wee Britain" bits of the show.

Hopefully, the writers will get the message and drop it soon ...along with Theron.

Another one for it being a HUGE improvement on 3x02. Really liked this one - classic AD in all respects, from Job's puppets to Buster's freaky hand to lots of cousin jokes. Loved the bit where Tobias says it was like one of those special moments where there's an ad break and the announcer goes "But it wasn't". Or where Michael says the words "Arrested Development" and we we get the announcer pointing out it's the name of the show :D

Big improvement on 3X02 definantly. My personal highlight of the whole episode:

    Definantly this!! :D:D:D

Oh.. and everytime i heard the name Bob Loblaw, i giggled a little inside! :D

Great episode. Highlight for me was GOB and his forget me now pills. Oh and the sign saying "Family love Michael"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,474 ✭✭✭YeatsCounty

3x01: Genius, especially www.imoscar.com, and not forgetting Gob
    "Taste the happy Michael!"

3x02: A very good episode, I thought. Sure, the whole wee Britain thing wqasn't great but the families chicken impressions and Tobias' attempts to become Gob's double for his "Free Chicken" trick more than made up for it. Can't wait to see 3x03 tomorrow. :)

Episode 3 is the best of the season so far. Classic AD indeed.
    Loved this part:
"G.O.B.: It’s okay, she’s alive. And soft. Soft and alive.

Lucille: All right, let’s not add that to the charges.
    "

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,731 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

A far better episode, though still not up the the standard of 301 (one of the best episodes of all, IMHO). Hope we never hear 'For British Eyes Only' again.
Lucille was in good form :)

As stated before yesterdays Boards upgrade, Episode 4 won't be screened until October 31st after the World Series. Hooray for baseball.

Don't think it's back til November 7th actually.. but in good news, we have 2 episodes that day.

3X04 - Notapusy (hmmm... more 'For British Eyes Only', i assume!)
3X05 - Mr. F (Frankie 'Malcolm In The Middle' Muniz guest-stars..)

November 7th, just like Family Guy and American Dad then? On the official site, it says that it will return on October 31st (check near the bottom left hand corner of the Home page).

Still, if there's two new episodes of AD on the night it returns, then that's like a home run for Arrested fans! </terrible baseball analogy>
I just hope that they don't play the 'For British Eyes Only' song again, it's horrible. :(

    Hmmm.. guess you're right!

It does say it on the official site - it definantly said November 7th a few weeks back though.

PS - sick of feckin' baseball. I miss my Prison Break / AD Monday night combo and even though i'm enjoying 'My Name Is Earl' more and more each week - when the hell will 'Scrubs' return? NBC have commissioned a 5th (and looks like, final! :() series of 24 episodes and have given us a return date of anytime between now an January - certainly narrow it down, don't they?

I don't doubt that the date for AD's return was changed, American networks are erratic at best. Still, the World Series will be finished for another year at the end of this month, so things are beginning to look up! :D

I haven't seen Prison Break or My Name Is Earl yet.........but then again I don't have Fox on cable. :-/ I have to seriously catch up on Lost as well, so I'll do that shortly.

It seems like a year since I last saw Scrubs. NBC seem to be treating it like crap, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this was the last season. :( This while muck like 'Generic Reality TV Show #2769' heads the ratings. I've heard that it will be held back until the New Year, but that was on the official Message Board. Hardly a source of reliable information. A January season premiere does seem to be the most likely option now. Feck it.

Four hours of brand new Arrested Development would be fantastic, but we'll have to settle for a DVD marathon when we get our hands on the Season 2 DVD. ;) I can't wait to buy it! It's CDN$34.99 on amazon.ca.
Is the Region 2 DVD on sale yet?

Don't they have a zillion dedicated sports channels in the US that they could show the baseball on? I don't understand why they would throw everything out the window to show it on Fox. What are the people who don't like baseball (there must be some) supposed to do?

True. It's kind of like Sky One showing premiership football by the looks of things

Surely it's more akin to RTE or UTV suspending TV shows to show the Premiership or whatnot... The main stations - FOX, ABC, NBC, UPN, etc - provide the biggest possible audience for the sports which are watched by a large number of people (for whatever reasons...).

There are many dedicated sports channels in North America but they don't have really big audiences most of the time. Most sports fans seem to prefer watching big events on 'normal' stations. Plus, Fox obviously has bought the rights to the MLB. They must be raking in the money, and hopefully some of that money will go towards the cast and crew of Arrested Development.

Now the date has been pushed back to November 7th "after baseball" according to the official site, just like basquille said on page 2. Which is odd...

Two episodes tonight! Both pretty good episodes. Some great lines and scenes including:

    First Episode:
The handlebars in Michaels bed, and GOB swaering revenge ("Maybe I'll steal his bike.....or that paperweight. *steams up window*).
Tobias' hair plugs. "It's time for some T&A!"
Steve Holt: "He's a wimp, a ******". Narrator: "And he didn't mean Pussycat".
"We all feel that way about our mothers, and we all have legs....."
    Startled Straight x 2.
    And the best,
no Rita until the end of the first episode. That's not true ofor the second episode though.

    Second Episode:
    Bay of Pigs reference.
The families Godzilla impressions, especially Lucille's "impression".
    GOB's minature city.
    The return of Annyong.
    Tobias the mole.
    The meaning of MRF.
    :D

PS: I may have been seeing things, but look out for a visible boom mike disappearing and reappearing in the first scene with Bob Loblaw in the second episode.

    Damn you mate!

I used to be ahead of you in 'Lost', 'Arrested Development', 'Family Guy' etc. And now you're seeing the new episodes of AD before me!

    Grrrr.....!

Anyways.. looking forward to getting these off the cousins!

I'm Number 1! :p Well, you only have a few hours to wait before the cousins deliver, so it's not all bad. I haven't been able to see much of Lost (quite busy here) but I'll catch up sooner rather than later. :)

I find it hard to believe how under-rated arrested development actually is.Its up on a level with i'm alan partridge although it does depend on whether you like i'm alan partridge!!!One of the reasons its not popular in ireland is probably because its shown on tv3!!If it was on monday nite rte2 it would be massive in my opinion.

I'd like to believe that but I doubt that would be true. I'd say it would suffer the same fate as Larry Sanders/Seinfeld does on Irish t.v.
