PNY Technologies. They aren't on the website, they're in the flyer that is going round. They're 2.0 USB.

They are a shop only deal. Who'd buy something small from the website anyway? You have to pay €25 delivery on most items!

it is cheap for a shop but you're still better off going to Ebay - I got a 1gb stick with MP3 player and radio built-in for €60 (incl postage)

So USB flash drives then as opposed to actual MemorySticks?

Damn fuking sony, how were they let away with that one. Drives me mad every time.
Im going to bring out a bag of crisps called a 1gb usb flash drive, sell them for €50 and make a killing. I always wonder how many people have bought sonys overpriced, ridiculously arrogantly named memory cards by mistake...

the sony "memory stick" has been around since the late 90s - usb flash drives appeared around the same time but have had various names. You can't blame Sony for picking a name that subsequently came to mean something else.

I don't agree, and still blame them. It is crazy for such a huge corporation in the business for donkeys years, dealing with a worldwide market to trade mark such a blatantly generic name. Any big business with its own massive marketing department should not have given the go-ahead. They should have foresight.
I remember hearing sticks of ram being referred to as "memory sticks" by people in the early 90s. They may as well have just called them "memory cards", I cant think of any other card that doesnt have a distinct name that is not confused over and over again.

The only benefit I can see (to them, not the consumer) is the fact it is so generic people usually end up using "sony" in the title, this leads many people who do not have much computer knowledge to assume they must use a sony branded card in their sony units.
